A platform game with a fantasy theme, similar to Castlevania.

Mystic Defender is a SEGA platform game that's far away from the colourful and playful concept of the Sonic games, set in a sort of fantastic recreation of medieval times, and starring a "mystic advocate" (just like in Castlevania).

In Mystic Defender, and through a concept of side-scrolling games, you have to play the role of a soldier or knight with a talent for magic. In an attempt to rescue a princess from a sinister castle, you'll need to confront all kinds of beasts. Mystic Defender is, therefore, the typical adventure game with hundreds of enemies to defeat, and various levels to overcome.

The way to fight in Mystic Defender is perhaps the most characteristic element, in handing the player a full set of shields of fire, glowing balls, etc, with power bars.
